Argentina give the ball away right on the edge of the box
Argentina came into the semifinal having lost just once in 18 games (16-1-1) since defeating Canada in the opening game of the Copa America in Atlanta, Georgia.
But they were gifted a chance to take the lead when Canada goalkeeper Milan Borjan passed the ball straight to Lautaro Martinez, who squared for Julian Alvarez to score.
Lionel Messi made it 2-0 with a stunning free-kick, his 76th goal for Argentina.
Canada, who had chances to equalize, will now face Qatar in the third-place playoff, while Argentina will take on Brazil in the final on Saturday.
