75 Year Old Accused Of Beating Victim To Death In Country Club Parking Lot

Hole-in-One Photo Leads to Arrest in Florida Manslaughter Case

75-Year-Old Accused of Beating Victim to Death in Country Club Parking Lot

Suspect Identified Through Social Media Photo

A Florida man's five minutes of fame turned into a nightmare when a photo of him celebrating a hole-in-one on social media led to his arrest for murder.

75-year-old Robert Moore, a resident of The Villages in Florida, was taken into custody on Thursday for the aggravated manslaughter of 87-year-old Villager Richard Smith.

The arrest came after investigators tracked down Moore through a Facebook photo he posted shortly after hitting the hole-in-one at the Glenbrook Country Club.

The photo showed Moore standing next to Smith's white Toyota Camry, which had been parked in the club's lot when it was struck by another vehicle.

Witness accounts and surveillance footage allegedly show Moore arguing with Smith before hitting him in the face and causing him to fall backward, striking his head on the pavement.

Smith was taken to a local hospital but later died from his injuries.

Moore has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and is being held in the Sumter County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
